Here are some tips and video instruction that I hope you will find helpful. I'll be updating this page fairly often to check back from time to time.
Breathing
Proper breathing is the most important aspect of proper singing technique. I can't strees this enough. So many singers get caught up in wanting to sound like their favorite artists, that they sing improperly and ruin their voice before they get a chance to really get good. Proper breathing is the first step in singing like your favorite artist without wrecking your voice.
When trained singers breathe, they breathe from the diaphragm, which is a set of muscles that run above your abdomen and below the rib cage. These muscles support the air in the lungs and provide extra push when needed. When you inhale you want these muscles to expand outward. The musicles in your sides and lower back should expand also. This allows your lungs to fully fill with air. As you complete your inhale, the chest rises slightly. Now you are ready to sing!
The video below demonstrates what I just described and gives you a couple of exercises you can do too.
