I teach voice lessons out of my home studio in Riverside, CA. I start with a brief set of exercises to determine the client's range and skill level. Then, based on that initial evaluation, I move on with exercises geared to help each individual with their particular needs. The goals being to:
After some time of focusing on technique exercises, I then split the lesson into exercises and song application. In other words, we work with songs that allow the student to apply the technique they have learned from the exercises. At this point, I also help with stage presence, mic technique and delivering a strong performance.
I record all lessons onto a CD which the student takes with them (I supply the CD). This helps the student to retain and practice what was taught at the lesson and to prepare for the next lesson.
Most of my students take half hour lessons. This gives the student a solid half-hour of instruction and gives them plenty of technique exercises to practice throughout the week without overwhelming them.
One-hour sessions are reserved for advanced clients who are auditioning and/or performing regularly and who have demonstrated a serious commitment to their craft. I offer 1-hour sessions on a case-by-case basis. I also reserve 1-hour spots for any client who wishes to get help with a specific song (or songs) for a specific purpose, like an audition, recording, or performance.
I also have a recording studio in which I record audition submissions, demos, or special projects for my clients. Rates for these sessions are negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
