You can probably see from my slideshow that I'm into a lot of different things. First, I'm a voice teacher. Be assured of that. For the last seven years it has been my passion, and will continue to be. I love what I do!
I am also a musician, worship leader, song writer, composer, arranger, and actor. I also like to take driving trips around California and along the coast. God made some beautiful scenery and put it right here in California. Of course He put beauty in a lot more places too!
So what have I been doing all my life? I'll give you the short version. I've been a singer and musician for as long as I can remember, but for much of my life music was a sideline, and not my main profession. Sound familiar?
I spent six years in Uncle Sam's Navy and got out on Christmas Eve 1982 (what a Christmas THAT was!).
I learned about computers in the Navy, so I went to work in the computer industry as a tech weenie working in sales organizations helping the sales guys sell stuff.
After doing that (and other stuff) for over 20 years I came to realize I hated it. So, burned out and stressed out, I got out. I've been a professional voice teacher and musician ever since. I discovered that doing what you love to do is more important than doing something you hate just to make money.
Life is too short. Discover what you're passionate about and find a way to do that for a living. Every day will be a new adventure.
Anyway, back to my story. I've sung literally all over the world fronting for rock bands, as a solo artist, and in choirs and acapella singing groups. Strangely enough though, I didn't start seriously studying voice and vocal music until the early '90's. I took voice and performance lessons for three years and studied with a couple of amazing teachers. That was when I learned about the technique that I now teach. I'm a better singer now than I was when I was in my 20's. This is THE ONLY way to sing as far as I'm concerned.
About that same time (early '90's) I got seriously into composing and arranging. My early stuff is pretty bad. Hopefully I'm better now, and getting better still. I've written several songs in the Contemporary Christian genre and I've orchestrated a couple of full-length musicals and part of a third. I really enjoy theater and have been musical director for a number of shows in the Inland Empire in CA.
I got into acting around 1994. I even studied that seriously for a time as well. I've done a lot of theater and some film. Theater is real and challenging and totally honest. Being a singer, I like musicals, but I also love doing great drama. Comedies are fun too, and challenging in a different way than drama.
That brings me to now. I'm still teaching and writing, and I love what I do. I am the worship leader/music director at my church in Riverside, CA, and I still do some theater when I have some time, but that's kind of been put on the back burner for now. My goals are:
